Growth Masters🎓 - Growth Tip #22

How To Convert More Customers

Whether you’re a small design agency or Series B SaaS, every business wants more customers. Put simply, there are two ways to get more customers; increase leads or conversion. We’re going to focus on how to increase conversion.

Step 1: Measure Current Conversion Rates & Set Clear Objectives

  • Collect Data: Start tracking conversion rate data. Use tools like Google Analytics to measure how many people visit your website versus how many submit your lead form. Track the number of lead form submissions that convert into customers.

  • Set Objectives: Define clear, specific goals (e.g., increase lead-to-sale conversion rate by 5%). Avoid setting too many objectives to keep the process focused and manageable.

Step 2: Streamline the Lead Capture Process

  • Identify Weak Points: Use your conversion data to pinpoint where potential customers drop off in the funnel. If you have high website traffic but few lead form submissions, analyze user behavior and engagement.

  • Simplify Navigation: Ensure your lead capture process is straightforward and logical. Typically, this will involve a contact form on your website.

  • Reduce Form Fields: Minimize the number of fields in your forms to make them quick and easy to complete. Remember, you can always collect more data later in the process.

Step 3: Enhance Content and Messaging

  • Communicate Value: Clearly convey what makes your product or service unique and valuable at different points in the funnel.

  • Strong CTAs: Use strong, action-oriented calls to action to guide users toward conversion.

  • A/B Testing: Continuously test different headlines, copy, images, and CTAs to see what resonates best with your audience. Use the A/B testing guide from last week to help guide your optimizations.

Step 4: Monitor, Analyze, and Iterate

  • Track Performance: Create regular reports to measure performance against your KPIs.

  • Analyze Data: Use your conversion rate data to identify what’s working and what isn’t.

  • Implement Changes: Make data-driven changes and continue testing new ideas to improve conversion rates.

Bonus Step: Build Trust and Credibility

  • Social Proof: Display customer reviews, testimonials, and case studies prominently.

  • Trust Badges: Use security badges, certifications, and awards to reassure users about the safety and quality of your service.

  • Transparent Policies: Clearly outline return policies, shipping information, and customer service contact details.
